RENT INDEXATION: THE TABLE

In Belgium, the health index is the basis for rent indexation of most rental contracts since 1994, with the exception of Brussels commercial leases. This index, which fluctuates monthly and is linked to the consumer price index , is crucial for calculating an adjusted rent.

Automation of Rent Indexation: Efficiency for Property Owners

For property owners with multiple properties, tracking rent indexations can be a complex task, especially since contract anniversaries rarely coincide. Forgetting to index can result in significant revenue loss, since rent indexations can only be applied retroactively for up to three months.

Software solutions such as Offimac offer an automated approach to property management, including rent indexation. These tools ensure that indexation is not overlooked , perform the calculations automatically and generate pre-prepared notices ready for mailing. You simply choose the desired sending method (email, mail or registered mail) and the software takes care of the rest.

You can also use a rent indexing simulator or consult sample rent indexing letters.
